Please Note: Training is 9am – 4:30pm. Breakfast starts at 8:15am, Registration at 8:30am. Lunch is included and CEUs will be provided.
This workshop will emphasize clinical work with children and adolescents who have been victims of sexual trauma. Research, studies, & literature pertaining to trauma’s impact on the brain, treatment of post-traumatic stress, & trauma-informed treatment will be reviewed. Frameworks for conceptualizing the impact of sexual abuse, treatment components from evidence-based practice models, & play therapy will be integrated to create abuse-informed interventions that are developmentally appropriate & clinically sound. Attendees will receive a variety of directive play therapy interventions which address core components of sexual abuse treatment. Lecture, experiential activities, group discussion, & case examples will provide participants with a comprehensive learning experience.
Training is for Sexual Assault Service Provider (SASP) therapists and Community Mental Health Center Sexual Assault Coordinators as first priority. Others may register and will be notified after December 1 if there is space available to attend the training.
To be eligible for hotel and/or mileage reimbursement, Therapists and Sexual Assault Coordinators must live more than 80 miles from Albuquerque. Participants are responsible for making their own hotel reservations by December 1, 2017 to receive the discount rate (hotel & room block info on confirmation page after registering). One mileage reimbursement per agency site will be approved, reimbursement forms will be provided at the training.
